A Surf City Yacht Club wedding promises to be a stunning event you and your guests will never forget. It is all about location! If you don’t know a lot about LBI, let me tell you this: the Bay-front is for sunsets! The kind of sunsets you will never forget. Growing up, my family used to spend the sunset hour sitting on the deck watching as rich color poured across the sky as the sun sank below the horizon. The “show” would last 45 minutes to an hour and would provide the type of priceless entertainment you will never find anywhere else. A Surf City Yacht Club wedding gives you one of the best sunset possibilities at the Jersey Shore.
So, I wanted to take a few minutes on the blog today to shine the spotlight on the Surf City Yacht Club! Special thanks to the gorgeous photography provided by Alexandra Peterson of Idalia Photography.
So, let’s dig in and find out what’s involved with a Surf City Yacht Club wedding. Located in Surf City on the northern end of Long Beach Island, the Surf City Yacht Club is available to non-members for special events. It’s one of only a few yacht clubs on LBI that open their doors to the public to host private events for up to 120 guests. In addition, there are a number of nearby options for guests to stay, including the Drifting Sands Motel and the newly renovated Surf City Hotel.
The Surf City Yacht club also provides what I like to call one-stop shopping for your ceremony needs. If you ask me, the perfect Surf City Yacht Club wedding ceremony would take place on the property’s beautiful Bay-front. It can be tented in case of bad weather for the perfect waterfront ceremony that seamlessly transitions into cocktail hour on the deck.
But if your heart is set on an ocean front ceremony, you are a few minutes’ walk from the ocean. And a quick drive to the Barnegat Lighthouse, where you can have an ocean front ceremony with Ol’ Barney as your backdrop! In addition, all areas of the Surf City Yacht club are also handicap accessible.
Unlike traditional wedding venues, a Surf City Yacht Club wedding will require a few additional vendors. For a site fee you get the yacht club for the day. But couples will need to rent many items to finish off the room including glassware, dishes, silverware and linens. But don’t be fooled into thinking that this is a negative, because it is not!
And you can not beat this room, with beautiful natural light and tons of windows. And the huge outdoor deck that takes full advantage of the view and the sunset!
The biggest bonus you get when choosing to go the yacht club route, is your ability to completely customize your guests’ experience. You can do this with rentals and design details that will help you to customize your budget and your event. How can you further customize your budget? Another huge bonus when choosing a Surf City Yacht Club wedding, is the option to bring in any caterer you choose. You will also need to budget and arrange separately for liquor. But you can pick options that fit your needs. And this is not something that happens at many typical wedding venues.
