Today I hav some really gorgeous countryside wedding inspiration to share with you that was recently published on Belle the Magazine! Alex and I teamed up, once again, to deliver a stunning piece of wedding inspiration. This gorgeous spring wedding inspiration, in Wedgwood blue and peach, has the look and feel of an English countryside wedding. You would never, in a million years, guess that it was actually shot at a historic Mill in western New Jersey at the Prallsville Mills. The Prallsville Mills is a historic site located in the small town of Stockton, NJ (FYI: Not the south Jersey Stockton, with the university; this Stockton is located in central western Jersey). It’s nestled between the Delaware River and the Raritan Canal.
It is not only a stunning wedding venue, but a great place to spend time hiking, biking, running, or swimming. The Mill is one part of a complex of over 10 buildings. The oldest building was built in 1720 as a grist mill and later transformed into linseed oil mill. Couples can reserve the entire Mill complex for their event, and use the multiple spaces for their ceremony, cocktail and reception, giving guests a one-of-a-kind experience steeped in history.
The Mill’s history was a major factor in the design for the photoshoot. The nexus of the inspiration was a bolt of vintage Wedgwood blue lace cloth that was used to style the table scapes. Some of the details included antique hurricane vases and a gorgeous glass and metal Moravian star. The Moravian star was chosen because the region where the Mill is located has a strong Pennsylvania Dutch and English influence going back to the early 1700s.
Alex and I worked really closely choosing many of the shoot’s details together. We chose to offset the Mill’s historic charm with a few small contemporary details such as ghost chairs. The table scape was set with simple white and gold trim place settings, clear-glass dinner plates with an extra-thick gold-trim, and gold flatware. Added to those were vintage-inspired hobnail glass pieces for drinking and a stunning triptych of centerpieces filled with florals designed by Pink Dahlia Vintage and placed into gold and silver mercury glass vases from StylWed. The dinner menu, designed by Jula Paper Co. to correspond with the invitation suite and the place cards, used calligraphy that matched perfectly with the seating chart created by The Shaded Maple.
The sweetheart table was styled with a lace overlay, Moravian star details, and unique hurricane lamps with Wedgwood blue bases. The table setting on the sweetheart table was just slightly different, using square white plates with a vintage-inspired illustration in gold of spring flowers and birds.
Our models for this countryside wedding inspiration had no trouble finding genuine love for one another. In fact, they had just recently returned from their honeymoon when they agreed to pose for our shoot. Together with Sara’s Bridal Boutique, we chose a slightly modern wedding dress design with beautiful lace detail by Morilee Madeline Gardner. The groom wore a traditional suit from Oscar De La Renta in navy, for a more modern feel. Added to that was a Wedgwood blue tie and pocket square in a design from The Tie Bar that featured a soft flower pattern. The bride carried a beautiful full organic hand-tied bouquet with flowers used throughout the shoot’s floral designs including: garden roses in cream and peach, ranunculus in cream and peach, delphinium and scabiosa in shades of light blue, and gorgeous greenery featuring a mix of Italian and Israeli ruscus.
The tiered hand-painted cake from Pastry Paige, was set up outdoors in front of the Mill’s original grist mill stone. Placed with it was the display seating chart. This unique design from The Shaded Maple used seating cards with silk ribbon suspended from a hand-built copper frame.
Other elements of the countryside wedding inspiration photo shoot include a stunning invitation suite designed by Jula Paper Co. with beautiful hand painted envelope liners that went perfectly with the Wedgwood blue and peach palette and beautiful Wedgwood blue envelopes addressed in white calligraphy by The Shaded Maple. And who wouldn’t develop a serious case of ring-envy over the custom designed three-carat diamond halo engagement ring from Atlantic City Jewelers with matching wedding bands!?
