Spray Beach Chapel weddings are perfect for couples looking for a small historic church. This one is located in Spray Beach (part of Long Beach Township) and just about a mile north of Beach Haven. The Chapel was built in 1895 back when there were only 12 homes in this small section of LBI. It’s full of stunning stained glass with local nautical motifs. The Chapel is lovingly maintained by its members and can be rented for ceremonies with ease. My favorite part about the chapel, without a doubt my favorite part of my job, is ringing the church bell as couples leave. A Spray Beach Chapel wedding is perfect for couples looking to have a “church like” wedding ceremony on LBI. The photos below, from Amanda Bonneau Photography, will give you a great idea of what the Chapel looks like on the inside.
A Spray Beach Chapel wedding has a few major benefits. First, it’s indoors so you do not have to worry about the weather. It’s also charmingly beautiful and allows you to save the expense that comes with a beach ceremony. The Chapel has the cutest bell (mentioned earlier) that can be rung at the end of your ceremony. I love doing this for couples, as their planner. But ringing the church bell at the end of your ceremony is also a really great job and special moment to assign to one of your guests. The Chapel recently installed heat and air conditioning units, so guests are extra comfortable. The Chapel fits 110 guests, but you can also factor in your bridal party, who will stand at the front of the Chapel and not take up seating.
One small downfall, but easily fixable, is the lack of bathroom facilities. But we simply send guests who need to find one, right around the corner to the Spray Beach Inn. Other important things to keep in mind, parking is on the grass and the street. It may be best, to have as many guests as possible transported from hotels to the Chapel and then to your venue.
