Today I wanted to share with you my favorite wedding blogs. If you are planning a wedding or you are in a wedding, you can’t help but get caught up in all the fun creative ideas on Pinterest. But one of the big problems with Pinterest (and don’t get me wrong—Pinterest is my love) is that there are sometimes too many ideas. Because there are so many ideas, it’s hard to pin things that all work together. The best way to find inspiration is look at both real and inspirational weddings that have been featured on blogs.
You’re in Luck because the wedding industry has some small and big blogs carefully curated to bring you wonderful ideas, tips and gorgeous photography for you to draw from. The big bonus is that blogs will give you great ideas of what works well together and how details can be pulled together to create a comprehensive look. They will also give you the vendor names for those involved in the feature, and this will help you to select vendors whose vision is in line with your own. Added bonus: You can Pin the blogs you like to your Pinterest boards.
Slow down there lady! If you follow too many, your mailbox will be quickly overwhelmed. So let’s take a minute to go over what you should be doing. I think you should pick two or three large wedding blogs to follow. No more. I’m going to list my top 10 national wedding blogs and give you a sense of what each one is about. Three is your limit! Then you should pick a local or regional blog to follow. This will help you to see venues and vendors that are within your geographical region and a possibility for you to hire for your own event. And last, I am going to recommend that you try to find a wedding blog that is specific to your wedding’s style or theme.
Red Oaks Weddings. Red Oaks Weddings features weddings from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. And they do a beautiful job curating images and presenting venues and vendors that are ones you might use for your own tri-state wedding. So, if you are looking for a great blog to follow that will help you to make decisions about vendors to use for your own wedding, Red Oaks is a great blog to follow.
Brooklyn Bride. If you are getting married in Brooklyn Bride, well… here you go…
Bogath Weddings and Events Blog. So, nothing salesy about this selection, right!?! On my own blog I feature weddings I’ve worked on all over New Jersey, but I specifically focus on wedding from Long Beach Island. So if you are planning an LBI wedding, go ahead and follow the BWE blog. It’s chock full of tons of LBI-specific wedding tips and features.
Merci New York. If you’re a New Yorker, or you just love the pretty stuff, this blog is for you!
Bride and Blossom. A NYC florist blog. And they feature some gorgeous ones. In fact, something I highly recommend, when you are researching your wedding day creative team, is to rad their blog, if they have one. It’s a great way to get a sense of their larger body or work as well as get a feel for their personality.
So, local blogs can be a little harder to find, but they are out there! The key is to do a google search, and if nothing pops up, then search some of your local vendors who may have blogs that you would want to follow.
There’s always the traditional stand-by, Style Me Pretty. But many of the big blogs out there cater to a specific style or feel. So if you are leaning towards a rustic wedding, you’ll want to follow Rustic Chic. Are you leaning towards a funkier event? Follow Junebug Weddings, The OffBeat Bride, or Rock and Roll Bride. For those of you planning a Disney wedding, follow the Disney Weddings blog. If you’re looking for DIY ideas and ways to save money, the Broke Ass Bride is for you! Other beautiful blogs include Ruffled and the Wedding Bee. And of course, Martha Stewart.
But if you ask me, I read every single post from Green Wedding Shoes, Wedding Chick, and Artfully Wed. Their posts are gorgeous and beautiful and full of really cool ideas.
If you loved this post, and you are looking for other ways to help plan the wedding of your dream, contact me here! I’d love to help. If you are looking for other tools, the BWE blog has tons. My favorite: The checklist for brides with two months to go! Get it here!!!
