This was a craaaaazy-awesome weekend! But it was so much fun! Friday was my mom’s 70th Birthday party and Saturday was Jill and Stephen’s wedding at The Shadowbrook at Shrewsbury. (More on the wedding-half of the weekend in a few days when I have some sneak peaks at the gorgeous photography from Idalia Photography.) And today, it was planning and shopping for my May 15th couple, Alli and James. More on their donut extravaganza soon! Followed by the Waretown Wine Festival with one of my besties, Merilee and our daughters, followed by hibachi with the in-laws. Whew. My feet are killing me.

I thought I would share my favorite part of my mom’s 70th birthday party–the cake. And it’s not just because I love cake (I do)! It’s also because we found an awesome way to celebrate this wonderful powerful woman who has always been such a positive force in my life. My moral compass. My shoulder to lean on. The one always calling “just to check in.” My mom is the best. And my mom loves her garden, so when my sister and I were tossing around ideas for a fun cake surprise, we decided to go with a garden theme. We got this amazing cake form Sweet Memories Cake Shoppe in Forked River, NJ. AnnMarie was spectacular! She created the cake bottom to look like a garden box and them added an actual garden shovel and beautiful roses, hydrangea, and Gerber daisies to create a one-of-a-kind gorgeous cake. And, OMG it was soooooo delish!!! Happy birthday mom! I love you, and after all these years…I still get a kick out of watching you blow out “magic candles!”
