I speak with couples all the time who believe they have their wedding planning down. And many do. But every now and then, I will speak with a couple who explain that they don’t need wedding day management because their venue includes a venue coordinator. And many times I speak with brides who tell me that their venue flat out told them they didn’t need any additional help on their wedding day. But here’s the thing: There’s a huuuuuge difference between venue coordinator and wedding planner. Lemme break it down for you.
Your venue coordinator works for your venue. Your wedding planner works for you! When it’s time to make decisions, your venue coordinator will do an incredible job making sure that the things you’ve planned work well for the way in which the venue runs and is set-up. This is a super-important job. No joke. You need a venue coordinator to make sure that the things you’ve planned run smoothly from the perspective of the venue. Afterall, you don’t want your gift table to be placed in front of the kitchen, where all night it’s going to be messing up and interfering with the delivery of plated food! But your venue coordinator is not going to take care of the things I’ve outlined below.
Before your wedding day, your wedding planner will ensure that:
Teamwork is essential to success. Every wedding I have worked on has included a venue coordinator and myself (the wedding planner). The difference between venue coordinator and wedding planner has always been rather obvious, at least to me and the couples I worked for. I was there for them every step of the way, providing referrals for last minute vendors. Giving them advice and support that helped them to make the right planning decisions in the weeks leading up to their wedding.
I gave them my complete and undivided attention on the day of their event. In my tool box, I carried thread that matched their bridesmaid’s dresses. There was also every kind of tape you can imagine. And the second thy saw something the needed changed or tweaked, me or one of my assistants was on it. We worked to ensure that every single detail that had been planned was executed the way it was supposed to have been. Your venue coordinator is part of your team. They do great and important work. But your wedding planner will be the one who you go to when you need to research a nail salon or when your bustle rips during your cocktail hour. Your wedding planner will be an essential member of your team. The glue that binds. Seriously!
I can help you with the wedding day of your dreams.
