Last weekend I had the opportunity to help plan and attend the 2nd Blogging for Creative Entrepreneurs Workshop. This NJ blogging workshop was given by Alexandra Peterson of Idalia Photography. And it/she was awesome!!! Not only was the workshop chock-full of content that is invaluable when it comes to small business marketing, but I got to hang out, meet and network with some pretty amazing wedding professionals from New Jersey! Plus we got to hang out at Content + Co. Probably one of the coolest meeting spaces in Central NJ, and perfect for AirBnB’ing, small weddings and wedding/baby showers. Check out this highlight video created by one of the participants, Marvin from MK Flav Video.
This February, I will be celebrating my blog’s second birthday. And it’s been a fun two years. But I didn’t know much my first year. I didn’t even know what I didn’t know! I wasted a lot of time blogging the wrong way. When you are trying to market a small business, you need to blog with a few really important things in mind. First and foremost providing clients with valuable content that educates, inspires and informs. But at the same time, there is exceptionally important work that must get done on the backend of a blog. About this, I was completely uninitiated. Not anymore. Everything changed last year when I shifted my blogging process to include an SEO-related checklist. It changed everything.
As I’ve continued to educate myself, my work has become so much more fulling knowing that not only do my current clients know about my work, but that future clients will be likely to find my work as well! This is huge. Imagine that my first year of blogging was a ton of time yelling my message into the wind. Now, I am being heard. And because I have a very specific niche market, it’s become even more important that clients find me easily.
And a big shout out to Alex Peterson for providing such a dense and packed educational opportunity. I am not only lucky to be able to work with her so closely on projects like these, but also to call her such a good friend! If you are interested in beginning a blog, or taking your current blog to the next level, you have GOT to check out Alex’s materials and join her mailing list so that you hear about the next NJ blogging workshop first! If this year’s workshop recap sounds familiar to you, that’s because last year I attended and sponsored the same workshop with Alex.
