January 15, 2018
Over the past few weeks I’ve written about a number of traditions that are synonymous with the holiday season. Holiday traditions like popping New Year’s bubbly. Family traditions like cookie baking and movie watching. But today, I wanted to talk about another New Year’s staple: Goal setting. So, here are this year’s personal goals and my New Jersey Wedding and Event Planner goals! I know, goal setting is difficult and not one of my favorite things to do each year, but it’s so important. Last year I set a number of personal and professional goals. And while I didn’t achieve every one, that’s ok. In fact, there were a few that I hit out of the park, and a few that I sort-a tackled, and a few that, simply put, did not get done. And I’m OK with all of that. You can’t accomplish a goal if you don’t set one first. I know that the goals I did accomplish were amazing and there were a number of projects during 2017 that were not even on my list of goals, but ended up as some of the year’s highlights.
Here is my short list of goals for 2018 wedding planner goals. The list is shorter this year. And there are a number of personal and wedding planner goals that are going to carry over. I guess now, you might want to consider them habits, but I’m afraid to take them off the list hence I start breaking some of the really good habits I started during 2017. And there are a few I’m going to give another shot. So, here we go… I’m a baseball fan. It’s part of my genetics. So instead of rating my 2017 goals on a scale of 1-10, I’m going to use a simple baseball analogy. I broke my goals up into professional and personal. and I’m sharing both.
Networking Galore | I am sooooo excited to be participating (and co-organizing) my first wedding professional Mastermind this winter. Alexandra Peterson from Idalia Photography and I are working with an amazing group of wedding professionals to grow our businesses. I’m certain that the Mastermind will produce a number of additional goals for 2018. But with the Mastermind in mind, I also want to organize a Mastermind for wedding professionals on Long Beach Island.
Continue Getting BWE’s Work Recognized | This time last year, you would have heard me saying that I was not going to do more than one styled shoot. I ended up doing a a bunch. And I never would have imagined that my work (not once, but twice!!!) would end up in the pages of Bay Magazine! It was a highlight of 2017!
In addition, I did a styled shoot with Susan Elizabeth of Something Blue by Susan Elizabeth, and we got to hang out with Alpacas! OMG! They were the cutest thing EVER! Check out the feature on Wedding Chicks, here! And, contrary to popular belief, they do not spit. And I’m really excited, because I will get to team up with her again this spring for Amberly and David’s wedding at The Loft at Jack’s Barn.
I have no doubt that 2018 will feature a number of amazing publications of our Fall 2017 couples and our 2018 coupes, as well! It is so exciting for everyone involved to get to relive a wedding day by seeing it published!
Keep On Blogging | I love sharing content relevant on my New Jersey Wedding and Event Planner blog with my current and future clients. I want to continue doing this in 2018. The goal has always been to deliver quality content two times a week. I plan on doing that and then some. Every time I blog I immerse myself in a new subject, I get to connect with industry vendors, and learn more about the venues I’m obsessed with in and around LBI. During 2017, I did a pretty good job hitting the 2-per-week blogging goal… that is until the wedding season kicked into high gear. So this year, the goal during the off season, is to get a jump on blogging for the in-season. We will see how I do!
